Raw Food Recipies

Indulge the creative raw foodist in you, or  inspire another with a recipe.

Raw food isn’t just about salad, though you can get deliciously creative with salads and dressings. It’s important to have diversity and enjoy a wide variety of foods. This makes eating healthy and raw very satisfying.

There are a ton of raw recipe books out there, plus lots of raw foodie websites to explore. Another fun way to explore eating raw is to find people in your area who also eat raw food. Often you can attend a raw food potluck where you’ll find great ideas and get to taste different dishes to see what you like. Ask around your community health food store or vegetarian/vegan restaurants to see what you can find.

Let’s make this another raw resource. Add your favorite recipe below!

Adventures in Raw Food

How much food do you eat in its natural state?

Fresh fruits, salads, and cut up veggies for snacks are the most common raw foods for the majority of people. This is a great start, especially if you include them in your diet regularly.

However, there is a whole world of culinary delights most of us have never even considered.

The raw food movement has been growing at an exponential rate. Some of the reasons people choose to eat raw food include:

The Yoga of Eating

The awareness of yoga extends to how you choose to fuel your body.

How much better is a meal that is savored, rather than rushed through without appreciation?

How good do you feel when you enjoy the creative expression of cooking and eat wholesome food?

Food is energy. The things we eat absorb that which nurtures them. The next time you have fruit or vegetables before you, contemplate what contributed to their lives before they became your food. All elements participate in life.

Taking Time for Yourself

Yoga asks us to be in the moment, to take each breath in awareness, and to live life as a practice of service and creative expression of the self.

But, really, how many people actually DO this on a full time basis?

How busy are you? How often do the “things to do” distract you from your practice?

And, seriously now, where does the time go?

Time is a mysterious and seemingly mischievious entity. It plays by shrinking and stretching, disappearing and then bestowing us with moments of suspended magic. What an interesting variable in the game of life it is.

I’ve written an article that addresses the importance of taking time for yourself. You can read it here: Benefits of Yoga and Meditation for Busy People

A New Dawn of Hope

Can you feel it? The world is taking a deep breath. Hope, excitement, and a new awareness flows in the pulse of the planet.

Yoga challenges us to open to new perspectives. The philosophy offers methods of looking at the whole of existence in ways that can be mind altering in the best possible sense. The physical practice of asana guides your body into positions where you are literally seeing the world differently, often upside down! Mind, body, and heart are encouraged to constantly take a fresh view of reality.

Manifesting Change

The world is constantly changing; sometimes in subtle ways, and sometimes in ways that are remarkably transformational, such as the recent US election. More and more, people are awakening to their power to influence what happens on a personal and global level.

Much wisdom has been circulated on the subject of shaping your reality. From live speakers to visual media and written word, the process of taking that which you want and bringing it into manifestation has been revealed. Thought, word, deed. Intention, Knowledge, Action. This is the process of manifestation.

Satya: Truth in Today’s Controlled Media

You are most likely aware of the fact that the vast majority of the media is controlled by a very few corporations, and that they are trying to use these powerful lines of communication to shape our thoughts and opinions. In part, the powerful few have achieved their goal, spreading mis-information and instilling fear and alarm into millions of people in the past and present. It is dishonest and manipulative.

Yoga invites us to see the gift in every aspect of life, so what good could come from this?

Healthy Recipes

What you put into your body counts.  And it definitely influences your yoga practice.

Even the action of choosing foods, preparing a meal, and eating can be done with awareness. Yoga is everywhere.

The World is Shifting

You have felt it in your heart. Your pulse has quickened with the signs of change.

You’ve been moved by feelings of sorrow and anger at the needless destruction wrought by desire for greed and control. You’ve been inspired and uplifted by the beauty and determination of those who are making positive change.

We’re all on this ride together. Each of us experiences these waves of recognition in our own unique ways. The frustration and elation pass, however, often obscured by the immediate needs of life. The moment moves into the next.

One thing is certain.
